THE DREAMBOAT
This is my third catamaran and I have chosen it thoughtfully.
In 2008 I was in a storm with my former Leopard 38 and therefore trust the shipyard of Robertson&Caine.
The LEOPARD 40 is probably the best mix of sturdiness ( GRP with balsa core, NOT foam like other cats, that go soft with time ), weight ( approximately the same weight as an Xcess12 ) and life quality ( useful luxury ).
This owner version has 3 double cabins and could accommodate 3 more persons plus the huge lounge area on the foredeck.
Why buy a bigger ship ? A 42 or 45 “ catamaran costs between 200 – 400.000 euros more, plus the higher costs for repair, shipyard, running and berthing costs for little more room. The newly offered lounge area on the top deck is useless luxury and it hinders the work at the beam or takes away useful solar space. On top these bigger catamarans weigh 3 to 4 tons more and are more affected to side wind as they build higher.
The front door to the foredeck is fantastic, it creates an open airy space and makes the anchor maneuver more safely.
The ship has a new antifouling and engine service ( less than 300 engine hours ). It is completely fitted and comes with full doghouse/ rain/wind cover, electric winch, upholstery for saloon and foredeck, dinghy HIGHFIELD CL310 hypalon, PARSUN 9,9 hp, FISCHERPANDA generator ( approx.. 150 hrs. ), satellite telephone ( older ), BAUER dive compressor, 2 spare anchors, fishing gear, pots and pans, electric toilets, automatic life vests, professional tools, many spare parts (ropes, pumps, fenders, etc. ), wash dryer, microwave etc.
Full documentary including operating manual including reef plan, electric plan, engine manual etc. etc.
The yacht has hardly any tear and wear and has never been chartered.
